Objective: Determine the prevalence of iron deficiency anemia in children from 6 to 11 months of age and the preventive practices carried out by mothers who attend the CRED service of the C.S. Santiago Apóstol, Comas - 2023. Methodology: Quantitative approach with non-experimental, descriptive and transversal design. The population was 134 mothers of children from 6 to 11 months of age who attended the CRED office and 134 children from 6 to 11 months of age for hemoglobin screening. The technique used was the survey and a questionnaire and a registration form were used as instruments. Results: 33% of children from 6 to 11 months have moderate anemia, 30% mild anemia, 20% severe anemia and only 17% have a normal hemoglobin value. Regarding preventive practices, 61% carry out inadequate practices and 39% carry out appropriate ones; Regarding the dimensions, in terms of food practices, 63% carry out inadequate practices and 37% carry out appropriate ones; In supplementation practices, 66% develop inadequate practices and 34% develop adequate ones; In hygiene practices, 67% carry out inadequate practices and 33% carry out appropriate ones. Conclusions: 83% of children from 6 to 11 months have some level of iron deficiency anemia. A large percentage of mothers perform anemia preventive practices inadequately.
