Nivel de conocimiento y la actitud hacia la lactancia materna exclusiva en madres primerizas que asisten a dos centros de salud de Lima Sur -2023

Abstract

Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre el conocimiento y la actitud hacia la lac-tancia materna exclusiva en madres primerizas que asisten a dos centros de salud del Lima Sur. Materiales y métodos: Enfoque cuantitativo y diseño correlacional de corte transversal. La población estuvo integrada por 171 madres, mientras que la muestra la formaron 140 madres primerizas. La técnica utilizada fue la encuesta. Resultados: En los hallazgos no se encontró asociación significativa entre las variables conocimiento y actitud. Se encontró que el 75,6% de las madres encuestadas tiene conocimiento bueno y 20,7% tiene conocimiento regular. En relación con la actitud el 56,4% muestra una actitud neutral y el 42,9% una actitud positiva hacia la lactancia por formula. En relación con cada uno de los ítems de la Escala Infantil de Alimentación y Actitud de Iowa, el porcentaje vinculado hacia la lactancia con fórmula se halló que el 43,6% está muy en desacuerdo en dar la alimentación de fórmula es más conveniente que el pecho; el 27,9% están de acuerdo que la alimentación con fórmula es la mejor opción si la madre pretende trabajar fuera de casa; el 45,7% están en desacuerdo que la leche de fórmula es tan saludable para el bebe como la leche materna. Además, la variable conocimiento presentó asociación con el nivel educativo de las madres encuestadas. Conclusiones: No se encontró asociación significativa entre el conocimiento y la actitud hacia la lactancia materna exclusiva en las madres de los dos centros de salud de Lima Sur.

Objective: Determine the relationship between knowledge and attitude towards exclusive breastfeeding in first-time mothers attending two health centers in Lima Sur. Materials and methods: Quantitative approach and cross-sectional correlational design. The population consisted of 171 mothers, while the sample was 140 first-time mothers. The applied technique was the survey. Results: In the findings, no significant association was found between the variables of knowledge and attitude. It showed that 75.6% of the surveyed mothers have good knowledge and 20.7% have regular knowledge. Regarding attitude, 56.4% show a neutral attitude and 42.9% a positive attitude towards formula breastfeeding. In relation to each item on the Iowa Infant Feeding Attitude Scale, the percentage associated with formula feeding revealed that 43.6% strongly disagree that formula feeding is more convenient than breastfeeding; 27.9% agree that formula feeding is the best option if the mother intends to work outside home; 45.7% disagree that formula milk is as healthy for the baby as breast milk. Additionally, the knowledge variable showed an association with the educational level of the surveyed mothers. Conclusions: No significant association was found between knowledge and attitude towards exclusive breastfeeding in mothers from the two health centers in Lima Sur.
