Abstract: El propósito del presente estudio consistió en investigar la relación entre la autoestima y las dimensiones del estrés académico. Se implementó un diseño correlacional simple, donde se obtuvieron los datos a través del Inventario SISCO de estrés académico y la Escala de autoestima de Rosenberg en una muestra de 261 estudiantes de nivel secundario entre los 12 y 17 años. Como resultado, se identificó una relación negativa entre la autoestima y las dimensiones del estrés académico, siendo mayor con la dimensión Estresores (rw=-.39), seguido de Síntomas (rw=-.36) y finalmente con Estrategias de afrontamiento (rw=.22) con una correlación positiva. Donde los varones obtuvieron mayor puntaje en autoestima y en la dimensión de estrategias de afrontamiento, mientras que las mujeres tuvieron puntuaciones más altas en la dimensión de estresores y sintomatología.
The purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship between self-esteem and academic stress. In summary, a negative relationship was identified between self-esteem and dimensions of academic stress, being greater with the Stressors dimension (rw=-.39), followed by Symptoms (rw=-.36) and finally with Coping Strategies (rw=. 22) with a positive correlation. Where males scored higher in self-esteem and in the dimension of coping strategies, while females had higher scores in the dimension of stressors and symptomatology.
