The systemic nature of the pandemic and its unprecedented worldwide effects on all economic sectors highlighted the vulnerability of corporations and the interest in mitigating future risks that cannot be addressed with traditional approaches. In this context, the ESG (environment, social and governance) indicator is presented as a possible alternative, since despite being non-financial factors, they have significant financial effects. However, the studies conducted on the subject have not yet reached consensus, and although many attributes these results to the geographical region in which they are carried out, there are studies whose results contradict each other despite being conducted in the same geographical area, as is the case of Latin America. For this reason, the present research work seeks to measure the effect of the ESG score on the corporate value of Latin American companies considering the existence of size and industry biases in the ESG scores. According to the studies reviewed, good ESG performance has been found to have a positive relationship with corporate value.
