This thesis project explores the impact of urban design on promoting cultural convergence through the creation of a park to foster interaction and understanding among the population. The research focuses on a case study of the Cultural Convergence Park in El Milagro, serving the northern area of Trujillo. This space is created with the purpose of integrating and celebrating cultural diversity and is founded on three fundamental pillars of architecture: identity, sustainability, and inclusion. The main objective of this study is to analyze how design elements and urban planning contribute to cultural interaction and social cohesion. A mixed-methods approach is employed, including qualitative analysis of interviews with park users, surveys on perceptions of the space, and quantitative analysis of the frequency of use of various areas of the park. The results show that the park’s features, such as multifunctional spaces, areas for cultural events, and artistic elements representing different cultures, have a significant effect on promoting inclusion and intercultural interaction. Users report an increased understanding and appreciation of diversity as a result of their experience in the park. The conclusions highlight that well-planned urban design can be an important catalyst for cultural convergence and social integration. This research contributes to the understanding of how public spaces can be strategically used to promote cohesion and respect for diversity in the urban environment.
