ABSTRACT Irrigation systems in the High Andean areas more frequently show losses due to conduction and water distribution; due to inadequate irrigation practices. There is a great diversity of materials that allow these channels to be waterproofed; as the alternative to use pipes, concrete, masonry, among others, that require technical and engineering knowledge that help define the type and size of the driving structure, and be economically feasible. The objective of this research project is to carry out a comparative study for irrigation water conduction in 3.16 km of concrete lined canal and PVC pipe in the Shugullpampa farmhouse. District of Paranday. Province of Otuzco. Freedom, which will irrigate 81 hectares benefiting 117 families. To this end, topographic studies, soil mechanics, hydrological studies of the area, hydraulic and structural design, and the analysis of irrigation infrastructure budgets were carried out. The irrigation infrastructures of concrete and PVC pipe were considered as the driving line, with the same works of art for both, according to the topography that the project area presents: intake, sand trap, intakes laterals, energy dissipating pools; whose source of water is the Paranday River and the design flow was 0.05 m3 / s, whose dimensions for the concrete lining is 0.4 m x 0.3 m and the PVC UF de 12” C7-5. Obtaining a direct cost for the irrigation infrastructure, covered with concrete of S /. 565,677.57 and for PVC pipe of S /. 495,614.06, where the first is 12.39% higher than the second. Likewise, it was found that the best economic alternative is that of PVC pipe, where general expenses and freight are lower compared to concrete.
