Throughout the ages, plants have been indispensable for man, since they have been able to supply basic needs such as food, clothing, shelter and health: Food, clothing, shelter and health, being in that sense crucial in the treatment and prevention of various diseases suffered throughout its history; knowledge that with the passage of time and thanks to the word has been transmitted to the present day and deposited in the memory of the members of the Andean-Amazonian communities, as well as in the wise men, shamans, emolienteros and other connoisseurs of this ancestral knowledge, which if not rescued, revalued and disseminated, runs the risk of disappearing. Therefore, this thesis focused on determining the medicinal flora used by the inhabitants of the district of Guadalupe, Pacasmayo, La Libertad. For this purpose, a total of 382 semi-structured interviews were applied to the inhabitants of the mentioned district, using the “snowball” technique. A total of 110 species used by the inhabitants of the district of Guadalupe were reported; distributed in 105 genera and 51 families, where Asteraceae, Lamiaceae, Fabaceae and Solanaceae are the most outstanding for the number of species they include. It should be noted that these species treat, cure or alleviate a total of 67 diseases, grouped into 12 categories; within which, those related to the urinary, musculoskeletal, digestive, nervous, respiratory and cardiovascular systems, were the most treated with these medicinal resources, according to their Informant Consensus Factor Index (ICF); likewise, of the 110 species, according to their Use Value Index (UVI), 6 (6. 6 % of the total), were the most treated with these medicinal resources. 6 % of the total), turned out to be of relevant importance for the population, so it is essential to promote the sustainability of these promising resources, for development and progress, as well as to improve the quality of life of the Peruvian population in general and of the district of Guadalupe in particular.
