ABSTRACT The objective of the research was to evaluate the effect of the inoculation of eight strains of growth-promoting bacteria on the yield and quality of Cucumis sativus L var. Carmen F1 in the province of Viru, La Libertad Region, under field conditions, in a randomized complete block design with four replications. Three strains of Gluconacetobacter diazotrophicus, one strain of Bacillus sp, one strain of Bacillus safensis and three strains of B. subtilis, belonging to the strain collection of the Soil and Foliar Analysis Laboratory of the School of Agronomic Engineering of the National University of Trujillo, were evaluated. Seeds were inoculated by immersion for 12 hours in a bacterial suspension of 8x107 CFU/ml before sowing. All treatments received a half dose of NPK, including the non-inoculated control, equivalent to 140 kg of 20-20-20 fertilizer per hectare. No statistical differences were found between treatments for any of the variables evaluated; however, the LASFB C1911 strain of Gluconacetobacter diazotrophicus and the LASFB 095 strain of Bacillus sp showed a tendency to increase yield and fruit quality, as well as to reduce discarded fruit in relation to the control.
