ABSTRACT The main objective was to determine the variability of blood alcohol levels using EDTA and potassium oxalate anticoagulants in the collection of blood samples processed at UNIDDEP – TRUJILLO. A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out, the sample was made up of 50 tests that were taken at random collected from the data of the ethyl dosage registry, of which 25 samples were extracted with the anticoagulant EDTA and 25 with potassium oxalate. The procedure was carried out in the laboratory of the Ethyl Dosage Decentralized Unit, using the Sheftell method modified for photocolorimetry by adopting the Conway microdiffusion technique. The variation in the blood alcohol level of the samples extracted with the different anticoagulants was compared on the 1st day and on the 10th day of processing. After the analysis of the results using Microsoft Excel® 2019 tables and graphs and the SPSS program; It is concluded: that the samples show a decrease in the blood alcohol levels of blood samples taken with EDTA and potassium oxalate anticoagulants, observing that the difference between the variations of the samples extracted with potassium oxalate is less than the variation of the samples with EDTA, for which it is concluded that potassium oxalate is the ideal anticoagulant.
