ABSTRACT The present thesis study arises with the purpose of protecting the cultivated areas located on the left bank of the Chicama river, as well as the road infrastructure, Chicama - Sausal highway and to avoid floods of nearby population centers, compared to the ordinary and extraordinary discharges of the Chicama river. Both the cultivation areas and the road infrastructure Chicama - Sausal that extends parallel to the bed of the Chicama river, are exposed to floods and erosive effects because of the overflows of the Chicama River due to the increase of its flow during times of strong avenues , which would result in significant economic losses in agricultural fields and infrastructure would collapse interrupting vehicular traffic and isolation of the population causing substantial material and economic losses and risk of loss of human life. In this sense, it is proposed as an alternative solution the improvement of the riparian defenses existing in the fly sector of the Chicama River, progressive 41 + 703 km at 45 + 800 km. which, as assessed in the field visits, are in poor condition for its operation. To this end, it is planned to develop basic engineering studies using the most appropriate methodologies available for the designs, applying software from hydraulic models such as the Hidroesta or hydraulic simulations such as the Hec-Ras and others. Using the Hidroesta program, the design flow of 1,301.3747m3 / s was calculated for a return period of 150 years. A rocky dike with a height of 2.50 m, nail depth of 1.80 m, crown width of 5.00 m, slope of castling 1: 1 is proposed.
