Caesalpinia spinosa “taya” is a very important plant economically in Peru, since it is the largest exporter in the world, and more than half of C. spinosa for export is harvested from wild forests. Therefore, the present research aimed to evaluate the morphological variability of pods and seeds of Caesalpinia spinosa from the wild forest of the El Pallar Population Center, Sánchez Carrión, La Libertad. The respective stratification of the area was carried out, conceiving 5 strata, from which 5 plants per stratum were randomly selected, and from each plant 200 pods, which served as input for the present study. The data results identify average values of 78.83mm ± 7.16 for pod length, 21.38mm ± 1.06 for greater pod width, 2.76g ± 0.53 for pod weight, 4.05 ± 1.20 for number of seeds per pod, 0.88g ± 0.28 for seed weight per pod, 0.75ml ± 0.39 for seed volume per pod, 9.85mm ± 0.45 for seed length and 7.79mm ± 0.47 for larger seed width. Likewise, the qualitative evaluation identified the characteristics slightly falcate in the shape of a pod, slightly globose in the surface appearance of the pod, straw or cream in the main color of the area exposed to the sun, red in the secondary color of the exposed area of the pod, straw or cream in main color of the zone opposite to the sun, no secondary color in the zone opposite to the sun, intermediate in length/width ratio of the pod, globose obovate in predominant seed shape, grayish brown in main seed color, central basal in thread location and intermediate in seed length/width ratio.
