Quantitative, descriptive, correlational and cross-sectional research, whose objective was to establish the relationship between the level of knowledge and nursing care in the neurodevelopment of the premature neonate in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of the Regional Teaching Hospital of Trujillo (HRDT) and Hospital Belén de Trujillo (HBT). The sample consisted of 40 nurses who work in the NICUs of the HRDT and HBT. The instruments used were the “Questionnaire on the level of nursing knowledge about the neurodevelopment of the critically premature neonate” and the “Nursing care scale focused on the neurodevelopment of the critically premature neonate” developed by Romero (2022). The SPSS version 26.0 program was used to process the data and Kendall's Tau B test was used to determine the relationship between variables. The results show that the level of knowledge was low at 5%, medium at 40% and high at 55%; care obtained a poor level with 5%; regular 37.5% and good 62.5%. It is concluded that there is a highly significant relationship between the level of knowledge and nursing care in the neurodevelopment of the premature neonate in the NICU of the HRDT and HBT (p=0.003).
