ABSTRACT The research study determined the serum metabolites that influence the academic performance of the students of the I.E. Túpac Amaru II. Using 70 blood samples of students in the 5th grade of high school, proceeding to quantify hemoglobin / hematocrit and glucose by the method of reflectance photometer; data such as weight and height were collected to obtain the BMI, daily habits and whether they suffer from any disease. The following values were obtained for hemoglobin and hematocrit: 89.5% and 71% normal values in the female gender and 10.5% and 28.9% low values. In males, 75% and 65.6% were normal and 25% and 34.4% low values, respectively. Likewise, 6.2% and 26.3% of the male and female students presented hyperglycemia. 93.8% and 73.7% of male and female students had normal blood glucose levels. Underweight 16% of men and 14.2% of women; in the normal range 38.1% and 33.1%; 30.6% and 30.1% were overweight respectively and 15.3% and 22.6% were obese. In conclusion, it was possible to establish that the serum metabolite that influenced academic performance more was Hemoglobin than Glucose However, the link between glucose levels and academic performance was found to be greater than the significance level, indicating that there is not enough evidence to affirm that these variables are related. In other words, it could not be established that Glucose influences academic performance. These findings provide valuable information for future research in this field
