ABSTRACT This paper titled "weed hosts of insect pests in the cultivation of Zea mays L. in the agroecological conditions of Santiago de Chuco - l Freedom "was held in the village of Huayatan province and district of Santiago de Chuco. The oobjetivos raised were: Describe weed hosts of insect pests that attack crops of Zea mays L. in the agroecological conditions of Santiago de Chuco - La Libertad Determine what are the weeds that have a higher association with insect pests that attack crops of Zea mays L. in ecological conditions in Santiago de Chuco - La Libertad. Design one box was used in this research. For data collection it was conducted visits to producers throughout the growing period of the crop to maturity for sampling, conducting surveys photographs. Weeds identified within the maize and behave as host of insect pests were: Status arvensis L. (Casiburon) raphanistrum Raphanus L. (Mustard) Avena fatua L. (Chilean) sylvestris L. Malvaceae (Mallow) Trifolium dubium L. (Clover) oleraceus Sonchus L. (Cerraja) cripu Rumex L. (Chard) and Bidens pilosa. L. (dry Love) Insect pests associated with weeds in the maize crop were: L. Spodoptera frugiperda (fall), Peregrinus maidis Dalvulus maidis L. L. (leafhoppers), Rhopalosiphum maidis L. (aphids), Euxesta spp L. (Fly cob), L. spp Trips (Trips), Diabrotica viridula L. (Dibrotica) and Epitrix hirtipennis Melsheimer (flea jumpy). Weeds that have higher association with insect pests were:, raphanistrum Raphanus L. (Mustard) (Status arvensis L. (casiburon)
