The objective of this research was to determine the prevalence of hyperglycemia in patients over 18 years of age treated at the HS LAB Clinical Laboratory in the city of Trujillo during the year 2022. The study was descriptive, cross-sectional and retrospective. The information obtained from the laboratory database was organized in a data collection sheet; where the alphanumeric code of the patient, sex, age was recorded for the age groups, Sturges' rule was applied, in addition to the basal glucose test, the range, date, unit and method used; use of the MS Excel spreadsheet for ordering and subsequent analysis, maintaining the confidentiality of the results. We worked with a random sample of 317 people from a population size of 1802 patients. The results obtained in the present investigation reveal that the prevalence of hyperglycemia in women and men was 22,63% and 27,56%, respectively. However, no statistically significant differences were found when applying the Chi2 goodness- of-fit test; In relation to the prevalence of hyperglycemia according to age, we found that the age groups with the highest prevalence of hyperglycemia correspond: 45 - 54 years with 35,3%, 54 - 63 years with 27,8% and 63 years and older, with 36 ,1%, which was statistically significant compared to the other age groups using the same statistical test.
