ABSTRACT The present research study was carried out with the objective of explaining the influence of parenting styles on the development of social skills of Social Work students at UNT – Jequetepeque Valley branch, 2022. The sample was made up of 96 active students, ethnographic and statistical methods were applied, as well as the interview guide, Parenting Styles scale and social skills test; in order to collect quantitative and qualitative information from young students to obtain truthful and necessary information about the problem under investigation. Thus, the purpose of the following correlational study is to explain the existing relationship between the parenting style variables and the social skills of the Social Work students of the UNT – Jequetepeque Valley branch, 2022, from which it is concluded that there is a significant but not determining relationship between parenting styles and social skills, reflecting a predominant positive style in the practices of parents towards their children for their adequate social development through communication, decision making and assertiveness with their peers. However, the social skills of assertiveness in intrapersonal communication and self-esteem are evident in low percentages.
