Abstract Cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) is a precancerous lesion that precedes the development of cervical cancer. There is a suggestion that obesity could be a risk factor for the development of cervical cancer and may also be associated with more aggressive forms of this malignancy. Objective: To assess the relationship between the degree of CIN and overweight and obesity. Materials and Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional observational study was conducted, analyzing 72 medical records of women with histopathological diagnosis of CIN at the High Complexity Hospital of La Libertad "Virgen de La Puerta" during the years 2021 and 2022. Results: It was found that 55.6% of the patients were between 38 to 54 years old. 44.4% of the patients had CIN 1, 33.3% had CIN 3, and 22.2% had CIN 2. 77.8% of the patients with CIN were overweight or obese, and 22.2% had a weight considered normal. In the statistical analysis using the Chi-square test, a p-value of 0.063 was obtained. Conclusions: No statistically significant relationship was found between the degree of CIN and overweight and obesity.
