ABSTRACT This research was carried out with the purpose of explaining how a commercial agreement such as the Free Trade Agreement between Peru and China, became an interesting alternative for many Chinese investments to reach Peru, and increasing Peruvian agro exports to one of the largest countries in the world. Blueberries consumption has been growing since the middle of the year 2000. This growth was mainly due to trends that value healthier eating, as well as blueberry properties, such as antioxidants and vitamins high concentration. Thus, it is already part of North America, Europe and Asia inhabitant’s daily diet. South American region has been aware of this imminent demand, which is why many countries have taken the initiative to incorporate blueberry into their exports; Chile is the largest exporter worldwide. Peruvian blueberries exports began in 2010. Only 6 years later, in 2016, they reached 28 000 tons. Blueberries exports from La Libertad region, generated US$ 123 million in 2017, of which US$ 32 million were sent to China. This research gave important contributions regarding advantages resulting from this free trade agreement and perspectives for La Libertad blueberries exports.
