In this work we examine the ecological succession of insects in the carcass of a "pig" (Sus scrofa). Two points were selected, where the two carcasses of Sus scrofa (pig) were placed, these being sacrificed due to a stab wound. The collection, death, preservation, mounting and rearing of the insects was carried out, focusing on the Diptera and Coleoptera orders. For the collection an entomological net was used in a time interval of 10 minutes, the individuals were identified and quantified by means of a stereoscope and taxonomic keys. During the decomposition process, five stages were observed: (F), (HI), (DA), (DAA) and (RS). La descomposición tuvo un tiempo de proceso de 32 días para carcasa 1 y 35 días para carcasa 2. Se colectaron un total de 965 individuos, siendo 627 y 338 de la carcasa 1 y 2 respectivamente, del orden (Diptera y Coleoptera). The ecological succession of the entomofauna present in carcasses of Sus scrofa, was made up of the Diptera who were the first to colonize the carcasses, represented by Musca domestica, which was the first species to reach both carcasses of Sus scrofa, followed by Chrysomia albiceps, Cochliomyia macellaria, Ravinia belforti, Oxysarcodexia sp., Fannidae, Piophilidae, Chrysomya megacephala and later this succession was followed by the Order Coleoptera represented by Dermestes maculatus, Dermestes frischii, Saprinus caerulescens, Sechuranus sp., Dermestes ater, Necrobia rufipes and Carabidae. The ecological diversity of the main insects collected in both carcasses was low in Margalef specific richness (1.9) and in the Shannon equity index (1.6). The insects are associated with the corpses to determine the elapsed time of their death or post mortem interval (PMI), the PMI indicator species were Musca domestica and Chrysomia albiceps, both indicate a time from 49 to 130 hours.
