ABSTRACT The study aims to analyze the prevalence of perceptions of racial discrimination among high school students of the Santo Toribio de Mogrovejo Educational Institution in Zaña, Chiclayo, in the year 2024, and examine the relationship between the perceived effectiveness of policies and measures against discrimination in the school environment, experiences of discrimination, and the emotional and academic well-being of students. The study design is non-experimental, quantitative, causal and transversal research type, during the months of January to April 2024. The sample includes 151 4th and 5th year high school students selected by convenience. The results show a variety of positions regarding racial discrimination in the school, with a significant percentage of students acknowledging the existence of discrimination. There is a worrying frequency of discriminatory acts towards Afro-Peruvian colleagues, highlighting the need to address this problem effectively. In addition, there is a widespread perception of inequality of opportunities and strong support for the implementation of programs to promote inclusion and respect for the Afro-Peruvian community in the school. The findings of the study point to the need to address racial discrimination in the school environment and promote inclusion, respect, and equal opportunities for all students, highlighting the importance of education, teacher training, and the integration of content on Afro-Peruvian history and culture into the curriculum.
