In the present work, the influence of the substrate temperature of SnO2:Zn-1% films obtained by spray pyrolysis on the sensitivity in the detection of ethanol vapour was studied. These films were deposited on glass substrates (SLG) at synthesis temperatures of 300°C, 340°C, 380°C and 420°C, using the spray pyrolysis technique. The XRD diffractograms show a cassiterite-like structure for the films with substrate temperatures of 380°C and 420°C, characteristic of SnO2. Analysis of the FTIR spectra revealed that Sn-O and Zn-O bonds exist in the wavenumber ranges from 400 cm-1 to 1013 cm-1; it is evident that, as the substrate temperature of the films increases, there is a greater presence of Zn-O bonds. The AFM images show a tendency to increase grain size and shape, as well as roughness as the substrate temperature increases. Regarding the thickness, for films synthesised from 340°C to 420°C they tend to increase from 246 nm to 319 nm. From the optical properties for the films with substrate temperatures of 380°C and 420°C, the transmittance spectra are approximately 70% and 50%, respectively, and the absorbance tends to the red shift region; they show a band gap between 3,87 eV to 4,3 eV. From the study on the sensitivity of the 1% SnO2:Zn films on the influence of substrate temperature, it was determined that the film at the synthesis temperature of 420°C is the most optimal, with a sensitivity of 1,26 and a sensing time of 119 s.
