ABSTRACT This thesis deals with the issue of intentional fires seeking to understand why these events are happening, in the different Lambayeque sites and in what areas they are occurring. Being the purpose of contributing to the knowledge of the Lambayeque civilization in the religious aspect and above all to deal with the theme of these events from another perspective. For this, a comparative and multidisciplinary study was used; In addition, the analysis and description of the architecture allowed to identify that these fire events are carried out in different types of monuments, whether platforms, temples and residences and, above all, these events were directed to specific areas. These fires are the reflection of a ritual in the architectural spaces that were of great importance, whether religious or political. The results obtained show us that these events are part of a ritual process that occurs in architectural spaces that presented a religious burden in and where some important activities were carried out. These events have been treated as in different places as ritual abandonment events and in other cases as revolts towards religious authorities. But the evidence recovered in Luya, seems to be a ritual, rather trying to be a symbolic death of space at a given time or stage. Finally, we can conclude that the intentional fires are occurring during the Middle Lambayeque period, a time that according to the evidence of rainfall sedimentation recovered in the different sites. Lambayeque society is going through a climate and religious crisis that leads to architectural spaces of a religious nature being able to go through symbolic death through intentional fires in specific áreas.
