Organ transplantation is a treatment used worldwide for people with terminal disorders in different organs, who manage to regain these functions lost by the disease, without the use of substitute treatments that cause a variety of complications. This research aimed to: Describe, analyze and understand the experiences of kidney transplantation in people who received replacement treatment in a level III-1 Hospital in Chiclayo, 2023. The research was qualitative with a descriptive-interpretive approach, the population was made up of transplant patients from a level III-1 hospital, the sampling was non-probabilistic for convenience and the sample was reached with 13 transplant patients, achieved by saturation and redundancy, for data collection the semi-structured interview was applied, valid by 3 experts . The data obtained were processed by content analysis from which 4 categories emerged: Returning to a normal life without suffering, from dependence on a machine to freedom without prohibitions, rigorous care followed after the kidney transplant and fulfillment as a person after the kidney transplant. transplant. In conclusion, it was found that patients who have experienced the gift of life through a kidney transplant differentiate it with dialysis as a form of freedom granted, after going through a life accompanied by pain and suffering generated by dialysis. Dialysis allows them to survive, while transplantation gives them the opportunity to improve their existence without exhaustive restrictions, allowing them to live fully as protagonists of their own story.
