Risk factors is high blood pressure, may be due to environmental factors depending on the patient's lifestyle and genetic factors that are inherited. The classification of hypertension is as it follow primary or essential arterial hypertension covering 95% of idiopathic etiology is related to the systems involved in the regulation of blood pressure. Secondary hypertension covers 5% is due to: cardiovascular, renal, endocrine, drugs, environmental, gestational. The classification of hypertension according to the European society in adults of 18 years according to JN7 of 2013 isclassified into pre hypertension, stage 1 hypertension and stage 2 hypertension. It is fundamental the diagnosis of this disease to reduce the mortality rate and to start an early treatment. The treatment of hypertension will be divided into a pharmacological treatment divided into seven drug lines and non-pharmacological treatment modifying the change of lifestyle of the patient, as well as reducing blood pressure values. It is indispensable the dental management of hypertensive patients in the private practice for an early diagnosis of the disease as well as referring to a specialist and various dental treatment involving the management of these patients, as well as antihypertensive drugs and interactions of drugs prescribed by the dentists. It is a priority that all health personnel are trained to prevent high blood pressure and diagnose it to reduce the mortality rate.
