The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between the risk factors and the infection of surgical wounds in the patients involved in the surgery service of the Regional Hospital of Loreto, Iquitos 2018. The research is of quantitative type, non-experimental design and descriptive method. The sample was 213 patients. For data collection, the survey was used as a technique and as an instrument, the questionnaire and the cotejo tab. According to the results of the data obtained, 50.70% presented risk factors at an average level. Likewise, 66.67% did not present infections of surgical wounds and 33.33% if I present them. It was concluded that there is a direct relationship between the risk factors and the infection of surgical wounds, according to the correlation of Spearman of 0740. For this reason, the chief of Nursing was recommended to establish a disciplinary group that could maintain a control of the adherence of the protocols in the surgical area, as well as for the protection of the personnel as the one of the patient, also to train the personnel of Intervening nursing in the prevention of surgical infections.
