The main objective of the research was to determine the antibacterial effect of the ethanolic extract of the leaves of Clinopodium nubigenum (Kunth) Kuntze (Pachachamcua) on strains of Streptococcus pyogenes ATCC 19615, the vegetal sample was collected in the town center Porcon Alto, Department of Cajamarca. For the preparation of the ethanolic extract dry leaves were used, which were macerated with 96% alcohol to which a phytochemical march was made and alkaloids, tannins, phenol compounds, triterpenes and steroids were identified. To evaluate the antibacterial effect, the cylinder-plate agar diffusion technique was used, 3 test groups were used in concentrations of 50%, 75%, 100% and a control (+) bacitracin 0.04mg, with 10 repetitions in blood agar plates, the incubation was performed at a temperature of 37 ° C for 24 hours. The results were expressed as measured by the diameters of each inhibition zone, which were processed by the statistical software SPSS vs 21, the one-factor test (ANOVA), Tukey analysis, normality according to the Anderson Darling statistic was used. 95% confidence level (p <0.05). Conclusion, the ethanolic extract of the leaves of Clinopodium nubigenum (Kunth) Kuntze (Pachachamcua) showed to have an effect against Streptococcus pyogenes ATCC 19615.
