The general objective was to determine the antiulcer effect of the hydroalcoholic extract of Moringa oleifera leaves in rats induced gastric ulcer. To induce gastric ulcer in rats, 96% ethanol was used in doses of 10 mL / Kg of weight. To assess gastric lesions the Marhuenda scale was used, the indicators were: loss of mucosal fold, edema, discoloration of the mucosa, hemorrhage, number of petechiae and intensity of ulceration, all treatments were administered orally, it was formed 6 groups (n = 6) of female rats: G1 Physiological saline solution 5 mL / Kg, G2 ethanol 96%, G3, G4 and G5 received extract of moringa leaves in doses of 150 mg / Kg, 300 mg / Kg and 500 mg / Kg respectively, in all cases 96% ethanol was also administered. It was evidenced that the extract was very soluble in water and methanol, soluble in ethanol and insoluble in chloroform, hexane, acetone and petroleum ether. The presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids and / or triterpenoids and phenolic compounds was found in the extract. The dose of the 500 mg / Kg extract had a greater antiulcer effect (71% inhibition of gastric lesion), followed by the dose of 300 mg / Kg (54%) and 150 mg / Kg (25%), the ranitidine group obtained 67% inhibition of gastric lesion, when comparing the effects with the control group it was significant (p <0.05). It is concluded that the hydroalcoholic extract of Moringa oleifera leaves presented antiulcer effect in rats induced gastric ulcer.
