The present academical research have had as an objective to determine the relationship that exist between the perception of the body image and self-care of the patients who are in the beginning to get diabetes at Sergio E. Bernales Hospital in 2019. The method used was descriptive since it associates to the two variables, the design was correlational cross-section quantitative type. In addition, the study sample consisted by 125 people and a sample by 94 patients from external endocrinology clinic. For data collection it has been used the questionnaire which had a reliability from Cromback¨s Alpha of 0.899 and 0.912 respectively. The result showed that the 64.9% has a good level, the 25.5% a regular level and the 9.6% a bad level in relation to the variable of body image on the other hand, for the variable self-care, the 46.8% has a regular level, the 45.7% a good level and the 7.4% a bad level. In conclusion, the variable ¨body image is related directly and positively to the variable ¨self-care¨ (0.935), accepting the alternative hypothesis and rejecting the null hypothesis. So, it suggested to the Chief of Sergio E. Bernales Hospital included in it Operative Plan motivate the Diabetic Feet office, because in that way it would become in a unit and the attention for the patients will be comprehensive with the multidisciplinary health team.
