The objective of the present investigation was to determine the relationship between the presence of sealants and the Oral Hygiene Index in children from 6 to 13 years old who attend the Stomatological Clinic of the Inca Garcilaso de la Vega University 2018. The study is descriptive, transversal and retrospective, while the focus is qualitative. In order to comply with the general objective of the study, a non-probabilistic sample of subjects was used, consisting of 193 stories of children who came to the clinic for the first time during the period 2018 I. The instrument was a data collection form in which information from the odontogram and the Simplified Oral Hygiene Index of the clinical history were collected. In the results obtained it was found that 50.8% of children were female. 22.3% of children were 8 years old. 58.5% of children had a Regular Simplified Oral Hygiene Index, followed by 28% with IHOS Malo. 74.6% of children did not present any sealant. To test the hypothesis, the Chi square test x2 (p = 0.05) was used for qualitative variables where it was concluded that the presence of sealants is related to the simplified oral hygiene index. In addition, variables such as age and sex are not related to the Oral Hygiene Index or the presence of sealants.
