Abstract: fección odontogénica.
medicamentoso exitoso.
In pediatric dentistry, it is common to treat patients who come with pain due to an odontogenic infection. As specialists, we know that the basis of a successful treatment is when we diminish or disappear the discomfort; for this, as a first step we opted for a pharmacological treatment. For this to happen, the medical prescription must take into account all the data obtained at the time of filling out the medical history, in order to choose the ideal drug for a successful treatment. This leads us to review to know in detail the fundamentals of the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of drugs in the child's body. We must remember that the pediatric patient is not a "small adult", the pharmacological therapy that will be applied has to be according to the growth and development of the infant; the dose is not equal in a patient of two years with the dose of one of 12 years; In addition, we must monitor compliance with the indicated dosage, since self-medication and / or over-medication exposes the patient to any adverse effects, hypersensitivity or toxicity. Therefore, the objective of this academic work is to inform the applied pharmacology in pediatric dentistry, in addition to explaining its main characteristics for a successful medication treatment.
