In the present research, the characterization of the triterpenes and/or major steroids present in the bark of Ficus pertusa was investigated. The botanical species was collected in the Loreto region and transported to Lima where the investigation was carried out. The extract was obtained from the macerated with a mixture of ethanol-water of the dry powder of the bark of Ficus pertusa. The dried extract was fractionated by partition with petroleum ether (EP), chloroform (CFM) and ethyl acetate (AE). After the chromatographic analysis with the phosphoric acid-vanillin developer, the AE fraction was selected to be purified by gradient column chromatography, with solvents of increasing polarity. By means of a chromatographic analysis, the sub fraction AE5 was selected and then purified in a second column by gradient column chromatography, with solvents of increasing polarity, yielding the fraction AE5.2 as a product. Fraction AE5.2 was analyzed by mono- and two-dimensional and infrared nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and obtained as a result 1-D NMR spectra of 1H and 13C and 2-D NMR spectra of HMBC and HSQC 1H - 13C. A pentacyclic triterpene with oleanan skeleton, β-amyrin acetate was identified.
