Objective: To determine whether post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is associated with global functioning in healthcare workers at Las Mercedes de Paita Hospital and Hospital II EsSalud de Talara during the period from April to July 2022. Methods: An observational study with an analytical cross-sectional design was conducted on a sample of 450 healthcare workers who worked in-person during the pandemic at the mentioned hospitals. Sociodemographic and occupational data were collected, and the Work and Social Adjustment Scale (WSAS) and the PTSD-CIE-11 test were administered. Descriptive statistical analyses and association tests, such as the Chi-Square test and Student's t-test, were performed. Results: The prevalence of impaired global functioning in the sample was 16%. Univariate analysis identified age (37.15 ± 8.16 vs. 40.16 ± 9.40 years; p = 0.011), female gender (66.67% vs. 53.97%; p = 0.047), PTSD (45.83% vs. 7.14%; p = 0.001), and critical work area (59.72% vs. 43.12%; p = 0.010) as factors associated with impairment. Multivariate analysis independently identified age (ORa = 0.96; 95% CI: 0.93-0.99), critical work area (ORa = 2.02; 95% CI: 1.14- 3.75), and the presence of PTSD (ORa = 11.23; 95% CI: 6.01-21.00) as factors associated with impairment. Conclusion: This study reveals a significant association between PTSD and impaired global functioning in healthcare workers. Additionally, factors such as age and working in critical areas also influence impairment. These findings highlight the importance of addressing PTSD and considering occupational conditions in the mental health and performance of healthcare workers in a pandemic context
