Abstract The present study deals with ancestral games of Andean origin as tools that facilitate the representation of mathematical notions. Its main objective is to elaborate a pedagogical proposal that incorporates ancestral games in the area of mathematics for boys and girls of the Multigrade School N° 50408 of the Hacca community, Omacha district, province of Paruro, Cusco region. This study refers to ancestral games, their origin and importance with the intention of incorporating them during the educational process. In particular, to allow children to express spontaneously the way in which they learn from their own experiences and the memory of their grandmothers' and grandfathers' games. In the same way, to establish in a matrix the correlation between ancestral games and mathematical notions and, in that sense, to approach the concepts of mathematics in the Multigrade Educational Institution. The main motivation for carrying out this study is centred on the difficulties that the children have in abstracting the notions of quantity and location that arise in the educational process. The interviewees were the yachaq [teachers], parents and expert teachers. All of them expressed concern about the loss of ancestral games due to the presence of new technologies that disregard local knowledge. In addition, they assume educational processes based on rote repetition to learn mathematical notions without generating meaningful spaces that encourage the recounting of experiences through memories. This is why it can be deduced that what has been said above constitutes an initial reflection that questions the Intercultural Bilingual Education (IBE) modality when spaces are not allowed for the educational process of ancestral knowledge and academic knowledge. In the general conclusion of this study, it has been possible to correlate the ancestral games with the notions of the area of mathematics, using a performance matrix in accordance with the methodological procedures of the games recovered. Keywords: Ancestral games, teaching tools, educational process, mathematical notions
