With the increase of industrialand mining companies in Peru, more automated production plants emerged where three-phase AC motors are started using frequency inverters. These motors cannot be started directly by the electrical network due to the high current consumption to start them, generating substantial costs for a company. Many companies use Siemens-Master Drive VFDs that have more than 20 years of operation in crude oil presses and Clinker presses in their production process. So, when these break down on many occasions there are no spare parts from Siemens or dealers and in case of finding the required spare parts, they are very expensive and do not guarantee a long life time of the VFD.The present design of an automated system with a PLC using CFC language is developed on the SIMATIC PCS 7 CEMAT V9.0 platform, which will allow controlling an electrical energy transfer board, in order to change the energy source of two three-phase motors , which normally work with frequency inverters, to be directly powered by the main electrical network. In this way, the variable speed drives will be disconnected in order to avoid the deterioration of their components caused by permanently operating during the limestone grinding process.
