The main objective of this study was to evaluate the exposure to the physical noise risk factor, at the sterilization center of Yanahuara Hospital III. An investigation of the correlational type with a non-experimental design was developed, the population was constituted by 16 collaborators, collecting information through a questionnaire prepared by the researchers, which among other data was obtained the perception of the workers, to the question if in all their Work shift is exposed to sounds or noises, 100% of respondents said they always are. With respect to the results of the environmental noise measurements, we have that in 100% of the areas evaluated, 50 dBA is exceeded, the maximum limit established for a special protection zone, during the daytime by the Environmental Quality Standard (ECA) For the noise Regarding occupational noise and after performing five measurements per job, an average of 86.16 dBA was obtained, for the noise produced in the process of cleaning material from the surgical center, a value that exceeds the maximum permissible limit (TLV ) of 85 dBA, given by the Government Conference of Industrial Hygienists of America or by its acronym in English ACGIH, for a workday of 8 hours. Regarding the noise control, this was applied in the source that generates more noise, achieving an attenuation that varies between 2.1 to 13.8 dBA, with the change of the air gun with nozzle and the adaptation of a nozzle to the air hose. Therefore, it can be concluded that the noise intensity in the sterilization plant of Yanahuara Hospital III exceeds the environmental quality standard for noise (ECA) of 50 dBA, and the maximum permissible limit of 85 dBA, in the entire plant of sterilization, and in the process of cleaning the surgical center material.
