The objective of the present study was to determine the contribution of generic competences in labor insertion from the perspective of the graduate professional psychologist, carried out in the first quarter of 2021. The type of sampling was non-probabilistic for convenience, so it was studied to 20 graduates to whom an interview of 20 questions on generic competencies and job placement was applied, which were recorded with authorization and prior signing of the interviewee's informed consent via the zoom platform and then transcribed to obtain the results of the respective analysis. The methodology developed was of a qualitative approach, descriptive scope and phenomenological design. The results show that generic competences are very important for psychology graduates in their professional performance and achieve a rapid job placement. However, they report that not all competencies have been adequately developed in their university training. Regarding employability, the results showed that there are job opportunities according to the academic level achieved in the different areas of psychology: clinical, educational, forensic, couples and family therapy. They also refer that current public health policies do not take into account the role of the psychologist or benefit their development, especially during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
