The study that has been carried out aims to determine the influence of motivational strategies on the academic performance of students in the Introduction to Law course at the Law School of a private university in the city of Arequipa. The participants were 50 students of both genders, which come from the course of introduction to law of the faculty of law of a private university in the city of Arequipa. The methodology used was the quantitative approach, the explanatory scope, and the quasi-experimental experimental design. The results showed that students and teachers initially showed a low level of use of motivational strategies, however, later a positive influence was seen in the use of these. The test used for the comparison of samples was the t test, which corroborated the positive influence of the recognized strategies used in a second time, that is, in unit two, noting a positive difference between the notes of a first unit and a second unit. This is evidence that the application and use of motivational strategies, throughout the teaching and learning process, are necessary to influence and manage the students' own motivation and affectivity, activities that should be supported by the teacher.
