he main objective of this thesis is to conclude with the factors of formalization and its financial effect. For the research process, a quantitative non - experimental cross - sectional design approach was used and the research level was descriptive - correlational, using the interview as a technique and the questionnaire as an instrument; the sample consisted of 41 small and medium-sized companies (SMEs), with a confidence margin of 95% and a margin of error of 5%. As a conclusion of the investigation, it was known that the information collected allows to establish a notion of cause and effect between the factors of the formalization and the financial effect. It allows identifying the predominant factors in mining SMEs that obstruct the progress of incorporation towards the formalization process, which has a direct impact on profitability and the resulting distorted financial information. It also identifies seven factors that are: economic, financial, technological, socio - environmental, regulatory and legal, administrative and strategic, internal and personal. It has made it possible to know the trend of formalization by showing that mining SMEs do not currently seek integration into the multidimensional formalization process, and that their main purpose is mostly to raise their productivity and profit while ignoring formalizing the identified factors. Finally, it is concluded that the predominant situation of mining SMEs is composed by different degrees in the formalization process, characteristic of partial compliance with the heterogeneity of the activities that make up a formalization factor, corroborating the idea that no SME is absolutely formal nor absolutely informal.
