The general objective of this research is to describe how the curricular design favors the labor insertion of the graduates of the Music Education career of a National University of Music in Lima, in 2020. For this work, 10 graduates of the Music Education career between 2015 and 2019 participated. The methodology used develops the qualitative approach, with descriptive scope and phenomenological design. The results of the research reveal that the graduates perceive the competencies and the profile of graduation from the curriculum design as very technical, focused more on the artistic than on the pedagogical task, so there is no substantial contribution in the process of labor insertion, since they have had to face adverse situations of employability and, in occupability, due to the few opportunities offered by the labor market for a professional trained at this level. With this work it has been possible to conclude that the curricular design of the Music Education career is not very in line with the needs of the labor market, that the musical training received by the institution is of a high academic level and, finally, that there is a need to establish competencies and specializations that serve to better guide the preparation of its future graduates.
