The purpose of the ongoing research study is to examine the relationship between the mercury concentration in the waters and sediments of the Ocoña River and the mercury concentration in shrimp. The Hg concentration was evaluated in three points of the surface water, sediments and shrimp; The population was made up of all existing water, sediments and shrimp, the sampling was intentional in three specific places in the Ocoña river basin in the Alto Molino, Secocha and Urasqui sectors with 01 water sample, 01 sediment sample and 10 shrimp samples for each sector, the chemical analysis was evaluated by a laboratory with current accreditation. The result indicates that the concentration of mercury in shrimp from the Ocoña River is in the average range 0.0169, 0.0162 and 0.0151 mg / kg; the concentration of mercury in sediments is 0.0474, 0.0471 and 0.0470 mg / kg; the mercury concentration in surface water is 0.00049, 0.00041 and 0.00038 mg / L for Alto Molino, Secocha and Urasqui respectively. The study concludes that the concentration of mercury in shrimp is related to the concentration of Hg in sediments of the Ocoña River and the concentration of mercury in the shrimp is not related to the concentration of mercury in surface water of the Ocoña River.
