In the present research work, a biological filter prototype was developed based on the Tohá System, to evaluate the efficiency in the treatment of dairy industrial wastewater and to make an economic comparison with a conventional treatment. For the evaluation of the prototype, four days of measurements were taken at three different times, taking data at the beginning and at the end of the treatment, where the humidity was between 40% and 60%, the pH remained below 8.5, and the temperature did not exceed 23 ° C allowing the worms inside the filter to be in optimal conditions. At the end of all measurements, it was determined that the biofilter would have a 90.64% efficiency, this based on the removal of turbidity. Finally, in the economic evaluation it was determined that the biofilter is cheaper than a conventional treatment, since the operation costs of the biofilter are S /. 1,645,805 and the operating costs of the conventional treatment are approximately S /. 11,265,880. In addition, a net value of S /. 14,791,176.2 with an internal rate of return of 75%, with a payback period from the second year.
