The purpose of this work is to develop a bioplastic from rice straw and residues of rice grains. The cellulose was extracted from the straw by removing hemicellulose and lignin, applying basic hydrolysis using 10 % NaOH and bleaching the pulp with 1 % NaClO. To obtain the starch, the residues of broken grains were crushed, they were mixed with water, the mixture was left to sediment, the starch was filtered and dried. The recovery percentages for cellulose and starch were 42.06 ± 3.21 % and 47.44 ± 7.09 % respectively. For the elaboration of the bioplastic, 02 formulations with different proportions of starch and cellulose were made, which were mixed with acetic acid, glycerin and water; the results obtained were discussed.
