he present research work will study the problem of waste generation in the Production area of the company Mixercon S.A., which is mainly dedicated to the production and commercialization of cement.The problem described occurs in manufacturing companies that have poor quality control, insufficient training of operators, poor quality of raw materials, among others; which generates additional costs and does not add value to the product.To solve the problem described, it is proposed to develop the implementation of Lean Manufacturing tools (5S and VSM) in order to improve the Production Management of cement bags of the company in the case study.In the first part of this research work, the main concepts of the Lean Manufacturing philosophy are described, then the waste is identified along the cement bag production process and the diagnosis of the initial situation is made using the Value Stream Mapping (VSM), which presents the cycle times of the processes and the days of inventories between processes, these being the main indicators to analyze and control for the validation of the proposed solution.After analyzing the VSM, we proceed to implement the 5S to mitigate the waste found, which are: Unnecessary movements, waiting times and overprocessing.Finally, the feasibility of the project is analyzed and evaluated through financial indicators such as the VAN and the IRR, which give a positive result which means that the project is profitable.
