The research "Perception of Factors that Influence Desertion among the Masters of a Public University and a Private University" presents a theoretical, descriptive-relational field study with a quantitative approach (Mejía, 2008). Although there are numerous studies on university desertion, few have been referred to the field of postgraduate. Therefore, for the purposes of the research, an instrument was created based on the Vincent Tinto model, on the desertion associated with socioeconomic, academic, personal and institutional factors. This was applied to a pilot population to make the corresponding adjustments and then proceeded to apply to the complete sample. The most important research results were that a third would be thinking about defecting due to workload or financial problems. It is also important to note that, without being the subject of the research, the demographic fact that the gender factor affects the age group of 36 years and older is drastically reduced, since the number of women studying postgraduate courses decreases dramatically, while the number of men keeps constant.
