The general objective of this research was to carry out the cultural adaptation of the Investigative Competences Assessment Scale (EECIa) to the national university context, determine the validity and reliability of the adapted instrument and describe the effects of sex and age on the scores of investigative competences. It was developed under a quantitative approach, following an instrumental design. The Sample consisted of 100 tenth cycle students from a private university. The content-based validity evidence was performed through the judgment of 5 experts, Aiken's V Coefficient was .95. To estimate the reliability evidence based on internal consistency, Cronbach's Alpha Coefficient was used, whose value was de ,948. These results show optimal levels of validity and reliability of the adapted instrument. No effect of sex and age was found on the scores of the research competencies. It is concluded that the EECIa instrument is valid and reliable to measure quantitative research competencies in university students.
