The general objective of the research was to describe the cognitive manifestations of difficulty in the learning processes and to check the effects of the intervention plan on the mastery of the perceptual and syntactic processes of reading and the automation of the lexical orthographic process of writing; included in a quantitative case study in multiple case design. Two sixth-grade primary school students belonging to a public educational institution of Villa María del Triunfo participated. They were given the Battery for the Evaluation of Readers' Processes - Revised (PROLEC -R), Tests for the Evaluation of the Competencies of Reading Comprehension (ECLE 2), Assessment of writing processes (PROESC), Spelling Performance Test (PRO 2) and Mathematical Competency Assessment Test (EVAMAT 5). It was found that the intervention plan increased the mastery of the perceptual and syntactic process of reading in the first case, the domain of lexical awareness in the second case study and the automation of the arbitrary spelling in the writing of both cases.
