The objective of this research is to determine the validity and reliability evidences of the Spanish version of the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale, in the full version of 17 items (UWES -17). The design of this research is instrumental. The data collection method was carried out virtually on a sample of 212 workers from a hotel company in Lima, Peru. To determine the evidence of validity and reliability of the Spanish version of the UWES, were performed an exploratory factor analysis, validity based on the internal structure and an analysis of internal consistency (alpha coefficient of Cronbach and Omega). The results obtained showed optimal and acceptable values of internal consistency (α and ω values of .93). Although the trifactorial theory indicates that it has a better fit, the results of this investigation show that both a three factor model and a single-factor model are acceptable. In addition, interpretation rules were built that would allow the use of this tool in the hotel sector. It is concluded that the UWES-17 scale is a valid and reliable instrument to measure commitment in the hotel sector in Lima.
