The purpose of this research is to determine the relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Academic Performance of students in the 3rd and 4th grade of secondary education of the IEP "Pedro Pablo Atusparia", Huaraz - 2019, for this purpose a quantitative approach based on statistical results, of non-experimental - correlational design, since the variables have not been manipulated, only the BarON Inventory (I-CE): NA adapted to the Peruvian reality by Dr. Nelly Ugarriza Chavez and Dr. Liz Pajares del Aguila to measure the emotional coefficient of the sample, and her academic level has been obtained from the SIAGIE, to then correlate the variables; on the other hand, this one of transversal temporal scope, based on the instantaneous analysis of the sample, also worked in a population made up of 250 students and the sample used was made up of 152 students, being the technique used in the survey and the instrument the BarOn Inventory (I-CE): NA to measure the Emotional Intelligence variable, with a politomic response, and the SIAGIE to measure the Academic Performance variable, concluding: a direct and significant correlation was recorded (Rho = 0.538; Sig = 0.000), between Emotional Intelligence and Academic Performance, establishing a considerable positive correlation, being able to verify the hypothesis.
