Teaching methodologies are didactic procedures used by teachers to offer favorable conditions for the teaching-learning process and can be classified into two groups: (1) traditional: they have the teacher as knowledge holder and focus on the oral transmission of knowledge . predetermined topics through a discipline program that must be met and (2) participatory: they have the student responsible for the process of building their own knowledge and the teacher acts only as a facilitator of this process. To enrich the professional training of students, teachers should try to use in the teaching-learning process a set of methodologies that can meet the preferences and needs of students and thus establish the conditions for these students to develop their own knowledge. The research responds to the quantitative, descriptive level approach with a non- experimental cross-sectional design. The population is made up of 76 students and the sample by 63 students, the hypothesis was tested: There is a significant relationship between the musical programs and the participatory methodology in the students of Acolla - Jauja Higher Institute of Public Music in the year 2019, when a correlation is found non- parametric Spearman's Rho (ρ = 0.801; p = .000) with a positive direction and strong magnitude; what allows to conclude, the better the musical programs, the better the participatory methodology in the Acolla Higher Institute of Public Music.
