This research aimed to determine the effect of learning strategies to improve students’ skills from the Faculty of Science and Engineering of the Peruvian University of Science and Informatics, 20019 - I. This investigation is quantitative, applied and quasi-experimental, explanatory, with a population of 73 students. A sample of 62 participants was obtained from the profesional majors of Systems and Computer Engineering, as well as Industrial Engineering ; All of them enrolled and belonging to the Faculty of Science and Engineering in the academic semester 2019 - I. Two questionnaires were applied to collect information: a university learning strategies and achievement of skills test. The instruments were validated by experts, whose reliability was made through the Cronbach alpha test, with values, (0.777) and (0.840), respectively. Indeed, for the processing and analysis of the information, it was carried out with the statistical program SPSS. v. 25, in order to obtain the contrast of the general hypothesis. The statistical comparison analysis was performed through the U Mann Whitney statistical test. The results showed that the experimental group obtained a higher achievement level (19.4%), process (77.4%) and average range (37.39), while the control group reached a lower achievement level (6.5%), process (58.1%) and average range (25.53), a significant difference that was corroborated with the U test Mann Whitney (U = 17,500, Z = -3-159, p = .002). Therefore, the categorical scores of the control group and experimental group differ significantly due to the effect of validated learning strategies on students from the Faculty of Science and Engineering of the Peruvian University of Science and Informatics, 2019 - I.
